HCEO Announces Winner of Dissertation Prize
The Human Capital and Economic Opportunity Global Working Group is pleased to announce the winner of its first-ever dissertation prize, Eric Chyn. He submitted the dissertation “Moved to Opportunity: The Long-Run Effect of Public Housing Demolition on Labor Market Outcomes of Children.”
Chyn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Virginia and a Faculty Research Fellow at the Rhode Island Innovative Policy Lab at Brown University. His research focuses primarily on labor and public economics. Recently, he has studied the effects of government programs on long-run outcomes of children. Chyn received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan.
As the HCEO dissertation prize winner, Chyn will receive a monetary award, and will be flown to the University of Chicago later this year to present his work to the Center, HCEO directors, and University of Chicago faculty.
