Hyun Soo Suh is a Ph.D. Candidate in Economics at Washington University in St. Louis. She is a labor economist studying human capital formation across early childhood, education, and health over the life cycle. Her dissertation examines how parental work arrangements, especially the mother’s, affect child skills, with effects that differ by education and substitutability of their time. Her research combines structural, experimental, and quasi-experimental methods to model and estimate the effects of parental investment, school quality, and health on human capital formation and to draw policy implications. She holds an M.A. in Economics from Boston University and B.A. in Economics and French Language and Literature from Korea University.
In her free time, she enjoys yoga and learning new languages.
