Ariyan is a rising senior at the St. Mark’s School of Texas with a strong interest in development economics, particularly how early childhood interventions influence long-term outcomes. He is passionate about applying insights from across disciplines to inform research on human development and public policy.

He serves as founder and president of the St. Mark’s Economics Association, having led the competitive economics team to international finalist and semifinalist finishes at the Northwestern Economics Tournament and the Harvard Pre-Collegiate Economics Challenge in its inaugural year. Ariyan is also a fervent writer whose essays on welfare economics, industrial policy, and the AI-driven economic future have earned awards and recognition from the Harvard Undergraduate Economics Association and the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. He works with the Child Poverty Action Lab in Dallas, a research organization focused on expanding economic mobility and reducing child poverty, where he uses programming and data analysis to study eviction patterns and property ownership.

Ariyan also presides over the St. Mark’s Chemistry Society and Sodalitas Classica (Classics Club), having captained the latter to national recognition at several major competitions. Outside of academics, Ariyan is a dedicated volunteer at Feed My Starving Children and local respite care programs for children with developmental disabilities—service for which he was honored by President Biden with a Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award.

In his free time, Ariyan enjoys traveling to new places, spending time with family, and playing piano.
