Marina Aguiar Palma is a health and labour economist visiting CEHD in the spring quarter of 2026. She is a Research Associate at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her research analyzes the formation of health and socio-emotional skills, with attention to modelling the complexities of child development and issues around skill measurement. She also works at intersection of genetics and social sciences, focusing on genetics as tool for understanding how our environments affect us, especially in early years.

Tamara McGavock is a labor and development economist visiting the CEHD for 2024-25. She is also an Associate Professor at Grinnell College and an Invited Researcher with J-PAL. She does both experimental and quasi-experimental work on intra-household allocation and traditional social norms around gender and caretaking. She is especially interested in combining high-quality quantitative methods with insights from ethnography and other qualitative work, in addition to experimenting with survey methodologies such as high-frequency phone surveys on time use and information/behavioral nudges to promote men's involvement in childcare and unpaid work.
